CUMC Summer Conference 2011
Theme: “Love is the Main Ingredient”
Theme Verse: "If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing." (1 Corinthians 13 verses 1-3)
Speaker:Sharon Conley
Bio:Sharon Conley has served with The Upper Room staff for 7 years, working in a variety of capacities with Companions in Christ, Weavings, Alive Now, and SOULfeast. Currently she designs online courses for Upper Room publications. Her vocational experience includes 10 years of campus ministry with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. A relative newcomer to the United Methodist Church, Sharon’s spiritual journey has consistently taken her to new and surprising places. Sharon holds a master’s degree in applied theology from Regent College (Vancouver, BC) and a B.S. in secondary education from Penn State University. She lives in Nashville, TN.

Scholarships:
1. Deadline for Scholarship Requests is 11:59 pm Sunday, July 23, 2011.
2. Requests need to be sent to Helen Leung (helen@cumc-nyc.org). Please indicate the amount of scholarship requested with a brief description of current situation for evaluation purposes.
3. All scholarship requests will be reviewed and camp attendee will receive a further follow up e-mail by Sunday, July 31 regarding status.
4. Note: To accommodate all Scholarship requests, Summer Conference scholarship will be funded on a partial basis.
5. "Service of Gratitude": beginning this year, scholarship recipients will have opportunities to give back to the CUMC community through service. Details will be disclosed upon confirmation of scholarship amounts.
