  1. To build up the Worship team/Praise team.
  2. To build up a team of people to serve in areas such as Audio/Visual/Media room duties, bulletin and other Sunday services logistics

Long term goals:

  1. To have separate worship services for teens and adults

When does it meet?

Every Sunday at the following times:
     10.00am: Praise team, set up and rehearsals
     11:00am: Worship Service, Upper Room.

Children's Sunday School

Vision

To build individual relationships in the community where God has placed us, by sharing the love of Jesus and teaching the Word through our actions and through Scripture so that others may come to know the kingdom of God

How long has it been?

More than 5 years

Short/Medium/Long Term Goals:

Goals:           
1.      To know God-
To plant and nurture the seed of faith in all our students.
“I will take you as My people, and I will be your God.  Then You   shall know that I am the Lord your God” Exodus 6:7
           
2.  To receive God’s gift-
           To pray with our students as they become ready to accept the Lord as their savior.
         “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.”  Ephesians 2:8
 
3.  To grow in God’s Word-
          To help our students learn more about God through the studying of the Bible.
To help our students experience God through the application of the Word and the power of prayer.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.”  II Timothy 3:16
 
4.  To love God    
“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.”  Mark 12:30
 
Objectives:
Our students will
1.      Read and study a Bible story every Sunday.
2.      Apply the Bible lesson in their lives.
3.      Read the Bible at home regularly.
4.      Memorize one Scripture every month.
5.      Pray aloud in a group during Sunday School and pray by themselves at home.
6.      Share Jesus with others.

When does it meet?

Every Sunday, 11:00 am. Each semester begins in September

CUMC Nursery

Vision

A nursery where children ages 3 and under will experience the love and care of Jesus Christ.  This will include providing a safe, clean and caring nursery where parents can entrust their children ages 3 and under to.

How long has it been?

Sundays, 10:30am to 1:00pm

Short/Medium/Long Term Goals:

Short/Medium term goals:
-     Hire 1 - 2 babysitters ($15/hr to $20/hr) from 10:30am to 1pm. 

  1. Have at least one parent volunteer every week. 
  2. Have a dedicated parent to oversee the nursery schedule, staff and programs

Long term goals:

  1. A dedicated nursery room equipped with audio/video streaming of adult worship service for parents/babysitters.
  2. Have private space where mothers can nurse babies
  3. New non-church families with young children will consider attending CUMC

Vision

Acknowledging God is the leader of CUMC, we seek after His guidance, direction and empowerment, and to be intercessors for members of CUMC.

How long has it been?

Since November 2003

  1. To have a committed group of individuals to be intercessors for CUMC
  2. “My house shall be called a house of prayer”

Every Sunday at 10:15 a.m. on the 4th floor

Small Group

Vision

To bring spiritual growth, caring relationships and missional focus among members of CUMC.

How long has it been?

3+ years, starting in 2004

Short/Medium/Long Term Goals:

2005-2009 Goals:

  1. Move from 10 to 20 small groups by 2009 in the English Ministry
  2. Train facilitators for each group
  3. Re-covenant every 6 months in each group
  4. Expect members to covenant to attend Worship and attend all meetings, except in extreme circumstances

Develop small group ministries to invite, welcome, and assimilate newcomers and others who don't feel connected to the congregation

When does it meet?

Small groups meet a minimum of twice a month. Small group leaders meet 1st Sunday of every month.

Vision

To foster a Christ-centered community for young adults

How long has it been?

15+ years

  1. To develop and strengthen relationships among its members and friends
  2. To create an environment that welcomes all who enter our doors
  3. To be wholly committed to the nurturing of each other's spiritual, mental, and physical health in accordance with Christ-centered teachings

Every Friday, commencing March 14th

Vision

To equip our adults for service and ministry through biblical and topical studies

How long has it been?

On-going

Short/Medium/Long Term Goals:

2005-2009 Goals:

  1. To have 2-4 classes each term (fall-spring)
  2. Each term to have a Bible study class (ie Disciple) and an equipping class (i.e., ChristCare)
  3. Develop a systematic process of discipleship for training new believers
  4. Reserve 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Sundays for classes

When does it meet?

Depends on class – some meet at the above time others meet during the week

Immigration Outreach/Legal Clinic

Vision

How long has it been?

Since 1999

Short/Medium/Long Term Goals:

  1. Publicize services and outreach ministries available to the immigrant community
  2. Create a program of tax preparation advice
  3. Build a pool of volunteers:
  4. On clinic days: translators/interpreters, office workers, paralegals, hospitality workers, attorneys and clinic-intake workers.
  5. People who can help with recruitment and fund-raising work which can be done on days other than the clinic days

When does it meet?

Usually the 1st Saturday of every month, meet about 10 to 11 times a year
